Meet Our Team
“We need to rethink the way we’ve seen psilocybin in the past. Mushrooms are all natural, non-habit forming, and demonstratively effective in treating a variety of mental health conditions. The research is undeniable regarding the effectiveness of psilocybin in creating healing experiences. We are proud of our state legislators for coming together in a bipartisan effort to ease the suffering of so many Utah constituents.”

"Psilocybin mushrooms are naturally occurring medicine. There are over 180 psilocybin-containing mushroom species all over the world and they can induce healing effects when consumed. When we look within ourselves with psilocybin, we discover that we do not have to look outward toward the futile promise of life that circles distant stars."

Many of our current treatment methods treat symptoms and not the underlying medical issues. They have long waitlists, take months or years to show significant progress, can be cost-prohibitive, or simply don’t work for some individuals. Legalizing the use of psilocybin in professional health care has the potential to provide everything that modern medicine is missing.

"In February of 2022 the Utah legislature passed the Mental Illness Psychotherapy Drug Task Force bill (HB 167). This created a task force of Utah legal, medical and mental health professionals to review studies examining the legalization and use of psychedelics in mental health treatment. The report offered a clear path for Utah legislators to safely integrate Psilocybin with Utah's mental health crisis. This is the time."

"Utah has a rich history of threading the needle on potentially complicated issues using wisdom, thoughtfulness, and compassion. We’ve seen Utah pass laws to allow for the medicinal use of cannabis, for example. We ask that Utah’s legislators again show that same wisdom and compassion in crafting thoughtful legislation that allows for the clinical use of psilocybin or other scientifically validated psychedelics to treat mental illness, addiction, or to relieve the fear and anxiety of terminally ill patients."

"Through psychedelics, we are learning so much about therapy and the human mind. Just like a telescope enhanced our understanding of astronomy, the right psychedelics are changing our understanding of ourselves and our consciousness"

What is Utah Mushroom Therapy?
We are a new and growing coalition of Utah non-profit organizations excited by the scientific evidence of the efficacy of psychedelics in treating various mental illnesses. Our goal is to support legislative efforts to legalize the medical use of scientifically validated psychedelics in Utah.
How do psychedelics help with mental health disorders?
Just like anesthetics can turn off physical pain, psychedelics can turn off mental anguish/existential pain. They help a person exist in a reality where they don’t feel and are not defined by depression, anxiety, and trauma. And that’s when the brain is open to change, especially change aided by psychotherapy which can really help the brain heal and be retrained.
Why is the Utah legislature considering a bill to legalize psychedelics for mental health treatment?
The Utah legislature in February of 2022, created a task force of legal, medical and mental health professionals to review studies examining the legalization and use of psychedelics in mental health treatment.
